Ms. Chingxiao Shao founded Red Gate Asset Management in 2000, an independent investment manager focusing on the Greater China markets. She has significant experience in research and investment in Chinese A-shares, Hong Kong H-shares and overseas listed Chinese companies, and believes in investing in quality growth.
Ms. Shao is responsible for the overall management and business strategy of the firm, as well as being a core member of the company’s investment committee. She leads the Red Gate team in managing Greater China Funds and QFII/RQFII China A-shares Separately Managed Accounts for some of the world’s leading institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, private banks and family offices.
Ms. Shao has over 30 years of experience in the global financial markets. She has held executive positions at various global financial firms, including ING Barings, where she worked for 14 years in its London, Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong offices. Born and raised in Beijing, she holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of International Business and Economics.
Ms. Shao has been actively involved in philanthropy and has served on the board of directors of Teach For China, China’s largest educational charity foundation, for the past 9 years. Since its establishment 13 years ago, Teach For China has sent more than 3,000 teachers to over 400 primary and secondary schools in remote areas, and has given 3 million hours of classes. It is Ms. Shao’s lifelong pursuit to provide all Chinese children with quality education, regardless of their background.
