LIB 2001
Welcome, everyone, to the library workshop series on Research Literacy. The third one of this series will focus on how to use information effectively, legally, and ethically. In this session, the librarian will guide you in exploring three key areas:
1. The basics of copyright, including what constitutes infringement and important exceptions like Fair Use and Creative Commons.
2. Plagiarism—what it is, its serious consequences, and how to avoid it through effective paraphrasing, quoting, and proper citation. We’ll also introduce various citation styles and the resources/tools to assist with reference management.
3. We will also explore the ethical considerations for AI-generated content with the growing use of AI and digital tools in research and writing.
By the end of this workshop, we hope you will be better equipped to navigate the complex world of sources confidently and ethically.
