On July 14, 2023, Duke Kunshan University (DKU) Library welcomed the visitors from the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at Westlake University. Ming Luo, Executive Deputy Director of OIT, Lihua Tang, Deputy Director of OIT, and two other OIT staff visited the newly opened Phase 2 Library and had a meeting with DKU Library representatives.
Dr. (Helen) Hong Xu, University Librarian of Duke Kunshan University, Xue Qiu, Senior Coordinator for Outreach and Learning Resource Management, and Xueying Cheng, Systems Librarian warmly welcomed and guided the guests on their visit.
In the meeting, Dr. Xu shared the experience of designing and building a contemporary library for a Sino-Foreign Joint Venture University. Topics of discussion include the spatial layout of smart libraries, the development of library resources and collections, library organization structure, planning and management of a smart digital campus, and other services related information resources.
Dr. Xu and other staff guided the visitors around the classrooms, meeting rooms, and group study rooms in the new library building. William Wan, Chief Engineer of IT Infrastructure, and Alex Yin, Associate Director of IT Application, from DKU Information Technology, also joined the tour and explained how the spaces equipped with cutting edge technology can be used to help build a smart campus.
