Data and Visualization Studio

Data and Visualization Studio (LIB2110) is now equipped with 6 Windows desktops with a variety of data analysis and visualization tools. 

Before Booking

Please read the following rules before submitting your booking request:

  • When using the devices and the space, please adhere to the Data & Visualization Studio Room Use Policy.
  • Room booking is not permitted.
  • Device booking is only available for use from Monday to Friday, 9AM–5PM, except on statutory holidays.
  • Each user may book only one device at a time. Booking multiple devices is not permitted.
  • Each booking may not exceed 3 hours per day.
  • Booking on behalf of others is not permitted.
  • Overnight use or remaining in the room after closing hours is not allowed.

Make a Reservation

Visit Data & Visualization Studio Reservation to submit a request. 

  1. Read the Description first under Details. Then, scroll to Get it and click on Sign in. Login with your NetID.
  2. Under Item Location, click on Request next to a device record. Click Request next to the device record.
  3. Fill out the Date and Hour fields. Please note that each booking may not exceed 3 hours per day.
  4. Once the form is complete, click Send Request. Please note that after-hours bookings or requests exceeding 3 hours will not be processed.

Care of Equipment

  1. Food is not permitted in the room, but water in a closed container with a lid cover is allowed.
  2. Users must handle all computers and peripherals with care.
  3. Unauthorized installation of software or changes to system settings is not allowed.
  4. Any issues, malfunctioning equipment, or damage should be reported immediately to the Data & Visualization Librarian (siti.lei@dukekunshan.edu.cn) and the System Librarian (xueying.cheng@dukekunshan.edu.cn).

Personal Items & Work

  1. Personal items must not be left unattended. Any items left in the room after operating hours will be collected at the Library’s Circulation Desk on the 1st floor.
  2. Room users are responsible for saving or backing up their own work; files saved on the workshop computers may be removed during routine maintenance.

Conduct

  1. Please maintain a quiet study environment for all users.
  2. Please take all personal belongings and ensure the space is clean before leaving.
  3. Group work is welcome as long as it does not disturb others in the space.
  4. Failure to follow these policies may result in suspension of access to the space or devices in the future.

Access Instruction

Please follow the guidelines below to access and use the room:

  1. The Data and Visualization Studio is open Monday to Friday, 9AM–5PM, except on statutory holidays.
  2. The room is currently unlocked and open for general access during open hours.
  3. Devices may be used without a reservation; however, users with valid reservations via Data & Visualization Studio Reservation will be given priority.
  4. Please adhere to the Room Use Policy at all times while using the space. Repeated unauthorized use or policy violations may result in changes to access rules or booking requirements.

After Hours

Computers located in the Digital Hub on the 4th floor of the library are equipped with the same tool packages (see Software & Tools tab) and are accessible during library hours. Visit Public Devices for more information.
